It's a crapshoot whether it's going to load to the last app or if I'll be watching some cartoon network episode when it powers on. One thing that I've struggled with is getting the device to just load to the main screen or the last app I used.

Having said that, the device does pretty well with automatically prompting to connect to whatever bluetooth device I have powered on, only rarely needing to go into the settings to force the connection. The off-brand headphones don't have that issue.

I also have this set up with some off-brand bluetooth headphones and it's paired to my Buds 2 Pro but the Buds seem to have a connection issue that causes the audio to cut out a lot. The audio is surprisingly loud and clear but I did opt to set it up with a bluetooth sound bar that makes it just a bit better and allows for more bass. With the lights dimmed, it's still acceptable, it just makes darker content hard to see at times. My primary complaint, like most people, is that it just isn't as bright as I'd like it to be. I mainly use the Freestyle to watch YouTube and Vudu and for that, it's worked pretty flawlessly. After about 10 minutes, I ended up putting the other projector back in the box and returned it. Unlike the Freestyle which feels very well built, the other unit felt like a kids toy, very cheaply made. Additionally, there were several areas of the screen that got blurry and not nearly as clear as the Freestyle. If I had kept it set up in my bedroom, the projector would have to have been left at the foot of the bed, taking up floor space. I mean, the one from Amazon *did* have horizontal keystone correction but not vertical. I didn't realize exactly how much I appreciate the keystone correction on the Freestyle until I didn't have it.
I spent about $200 so I didn't expect it to necessarily be a fair comparison but the Freestyle was so much better than the cheaper one in every way imaginable. It is angled upwards and to the side but the keystone correction has worked flawlessly for me.Īfter using this for about a month, I wanted to get one of the cheaper projectors on Amazon to try out and compare to. I have it setting on my dresser, projecting onto a wall about 7-8 feet away resulting in a 75" screen. Lots of features in a compact, versatile package I've had this for a couple of months now and so far, overall, I am pleased with it. I like it’s portability and the image so far has been decent. Overall it’s clunky and frustrating to use for a Samsung product. Also, the power button doesn’t work unless I unplug and reply the device in. A better set up is to have it as an option on the remote or directly accessible while watching whatever. To adjust sound or picture you have to navigate all the way back to the main menu and go through a bunch of clicks to get to it.

So I can do presentations from my laptop but aside from that it is more or less a stand alone tv, in a projector body.Ĭons: the software is like a beta version of Apple TV and is just not good.

I have a Mac and the only way to play things is AirPlay (which Netflix / hbo etc don’t allow).
You can stream Netflix and Amazon etc like a smart tv but you have to do it from the device (not your computer). Pros: the screen set up is pretty easy as long as you have a plug and a place to project it.
It gets the job done but is clunky and I am still debating whether or not to return it. Bad user interface and experience but functional Functional but not well tested or set up.
